I just wanted to offer a suggestion that would allow folks to get a message across without it being seen/deleted/marked as spam or a chain letter.
Maybe a better way or reminding folks about an upcoming event is to use the signature option that comes with Outlook and Thunderbird. I already use a signature at home and at work and I usually have some sort of phrase or ditty at the end of it anyway.
Example:
Black B. Lantern
Network Administrator
(555)555-5555
"On a large enough time line, the survival rate for everyone will drop to zero."
If I'm mailing from home I may leave out my title and phone number
I often will fill the last line with an informative message if I don't necessarily want to mass mail the entire company or my entire mailing list.
Black B. Lantern
Network Administrator
(555)555-5555
Summer reminder: Please avoid leaving your laptops in your car during the hot summer months.
If I lived in Ohio or had any friends or family there I would have temporarily changed my signature to this.
Black B. Lantern
Network Administrator
(555)555-5555

I think this sig attached to a normal email is an effective way of reminding folks about a particular event without them deleting it as spam. This is how that sig might look in a normal email.
Jim,
Did you get ever get around to ordering that spool of cable needed for the new Cincinnati office? Remember, we have to have that office up and online by September 1st!

If you are using Microsoft Outlook you can add or change your signature in the tools menu under options under the mail format tab. In the Mozilla Thunderbird client, go to Tools and down to account settings. You can check the box for "use this signature" and create a signature there. In Outlook Express its Tools-> Options-> Signatures.
